The idea of publishing Geo-Carpathica Journal started in 2000, when the first issue of the scientific journal was published by the Publishing House of “Lucian Blaga” University. The Journal is at present at the 12th issue, with an annual publication.
The journal contains all the results of the scientific research at national and international level, in the field of geography, both under theoretical and practical aspect.
As it can be seen in the journal content (No.1-12), there are significant studies and scientific communications that approach the quantitative and qualitative evaluations of the environment, the changes in the geographic space, the sustainable development of the rural and urban geographic space, problems of quality and monitoring the environment, use and reconversion of the geographic space destinations and the promotion of the tourism as a primary activity in the sustainable development.
Geo-Carpathica Journal is the international messenger of the scientific and research activity developed by the Faculty of Tourism Geography. Therefore the scientific-cultural agreement settled with Trieste University and the organization of 11 international seminars as well as the participation to the Romanian-British Conferences that took place in Bucharest and Liverpool and the Romanian-Canadian ones, from Sibiu and Ottawa are an acknowledgement of this ongoing activity; on these occasions, scientific information was exchanged, research and educational experiences were obtained and exchanges of publishing materials were made.
